STOBBART CALL FOR MORE CONSISTENCY FROM SIDE

TWR BIFOLDS WEARSIDE LEAGUE

-

Silksworth CW manager Andrew Stobbart wants greater consistency from his side this season as they look to put a rollercoaster start behind them.

Silksworth host thirdplaced Boldon CA tomorrow with Stobbart looking for his side to challenge at the top end of the Wearside League table.

He said: “We are looking forward to playing Boldon CA in what is usually an entertaining and closely fought clash.

“Results have been up and down so far this season and we will be looking to be more consistent over the coming weeks.

“It should be a competitive clash between two sides who want to win and continue to move up the league table.”

Silksworth have an almost full strength squad to choose from, with the returning Harry Munday, Michael McVay and Steven Bagshaw strengthening both the defence and midfield.

Young goalkeeper Jak Wright has picked up a groin injury and will be unavailable as a result.

Boldon manager Paul Mossa, who saw his side battered 5-0 by Hartlepool last weekend, had more bad news this week, finding out that striker Kris Goss has had to retire due to ligament damage to his ankle and knee.

Aaron Williams is a welcome return for the manager and centre back Jonny Gage and Liam Cox will also be available for the game.

Leaders Sunderland West End will be hoping to stay out in front when they welcome Hartlepool, and joint manager Anthony Nelson expects a tough test in what will be a poignant game for the club. He said: “They are a good side, probably the best I’ve seen and they’ll give us a hard game, they always do.

“Adam Drysdale returns after missing the midweek game, Nathan Burrell is back in contention, and top scorer Anthony Ross hopes to score more goals.

“We recently lost our Honorary President Arthur Bond, so this game is about him. He was with us from the start, was well respected and will be a massive miss.

“We’ll hold a minute silence for him on Saturday, and hopefully we can get a win for him.”

Pools have Keiran Campbell, Sam Cook, Jack Swales and Joe Osbourne, all returning to the squad, but Rob Hammond is missing.

Manager Terry Hill stated: “Last week’s result was a great performance and five great strikes for the goals – at last we got what we deserved with our play.”

Coxhoe Athletic welcome GatesheadLeamRangersand have Peter Brown, Kai Willis, Chris Hardy and Philip Best available after missing the midweek game.

Leam Rangers have Christopher Lowther suspended, but welcome back Leon Kane and Anthony Huddart after suspensions. New signing Gordon Hutchison may also figure.

Prudhoe Town entertain Harton and Westoe and the visitors will be without defender Andrew Burdon again and striker Brodie Simpson, whose knee injury is feared to be much worse than initially anticipated.

Striker Jonathan Matthews has left the club to join local rivals Boldon, but manager David Crumbie has acted swiftly to bring in experienced Shaun Steavens, who will be a great role model to a lot of the young squad.

Wolviston entertain Windscale and keeping his place in the squad after a successful debut last week will be left-back Jake Marron.

Also returning after missing the last six games due to injury will be defender Robbie Gratton. However, out for the next two months will be utility player Dimitri Kehi, after undergoing a groin operation.

Windscale had a free weekend last week, but still have several players awaiting late fitness tests. Luke Smith, Steve Walker, Dean Fox and Matt Metcalf are all doubtful.
