SUPERMARKET WORKOUT:

Online shopping is ruining people’s muscles as they fail to carry home their own groceries, physiotherapists say.

While shopping on the internet offers much-wanted convenience, it is stripping people of musclestrengthening exercises that help keep them healthy, according to the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy.

Its poll of more than 2,000 people found 24% of those aged 65 and over do no strengthening activities at all each week.

MONA LISA UNVEILED?:

French art experts are trying to find out if a charcoal sketch of a woman’s face and nude torso could be an unclothed precursor to the Mona Lisa.

The sketch is being analysed in a laboratory beneath the Louvre Museum in Paris to see if Leonardo da Vinci himself drew it before painting his 16th century masterpiece.

The sketch, previously attributed to da Vinci’s students, is part of a collection at the Musee Conde du Domaine de Chantilly museum, north of Paris. Museum curator Mathieu Deldicque said on BFM television that there are signs that it was painted by da Vinci himself. The Mona Lisa, one of the world’s greatest art treasures, hangs in the Louvre.

IT’S RAINING FISH:

Light rain in northeast Mexico was accompanied by fish falling from the sky, officials said.

Tamaulipas Civil Defence said a shower in the coastal city of Tampico included fish. Photos posted on the agency’s Facebook page show four small fish in a bag and another on a pavement.

According to the US Library of Congress, it is a phenomenon that has been reported since ancient times. Scientists believe that tornadoes over water - known as waterspouts - could be responsible for sucking fish into the air where they are blown around until being released to the ground.
