McCollin doubles up to steer The Park to welcome first win
The Park grabbed their first Division Two win, in a scrappy affair with Willow Pond.
It was feisty throughout, but Ryan McCollin’s brace settled Park’s nerves and Lewis Fairley hit their third. Callum Redpath hit Pond’s reply, with Joe Lincoln their star man.
Hendon Athletic were dealt a cruel, late blow as Board Inn rescued a 1-1 draw with a James Knight strike.
Athletic they dominated the game with the bare 11 and an outfield player in goal, and led with Brad Timm’s first goal for Hendon, confirming that he’s the best Timm in the family.
AFC Wearside are still winless after AFC Donkins did enough to claim a 3-1 win.
Brent Brooke (2) and Darren Davie notched, with Jake Pattison starring. Daniel Brown replied. Scott King and Michael Wilson rescued a precious point for Cherry Tree in a 2-2 draw against Pennywell Comrades. Comrades had been cruising after going 2-0 up through Carl Waters and Aiden Goodey. Aaron Smith shone in Cherries’ goal. Stephen Thompson scored the only goal as Myers continued their unbeaten league run, beating Victory Club, despite having Ben Roberts red-carded. James Smiles stood out for the Victory Club. Washington New Tavern leapfrogged Park View into top spot in Division Three after enjoying a 4-1 victory in a dominant performance. Conner Stoddart, Chris Trewhitt, Kieran Freeman and John Ellison did the damage, with keeper Troy Baker netting for View.
Penshaw CC taught Wear United a lesson with a 5-1 demolition. United weren’t at the races as Ryan Priestman scored twice, backed by Kris Kane, Jon Snelling and Liam Binks, to brush aside Michael Smith’s lads. Steven Barnes hit Wear’s consolation.
Ryhope and Kings Arms served up a 3-3 thriller.
Chris Hutcheon, Robbie Middlebrook and Matty Grainger scored for Ryhope, but Dan Richardson, Casey King and Jake Smith rescued a point for the Kingsmen.
Tony Ganley was on hand to ensure Millfield Oddies secured an important victory over Lakeside SSC.
His brace helped out in a 6-1 win, with Paul Maw (2), David Laing and Chris Robins also scoring. Ben Collier reduced the deficit, with Liam Huitson Lakeside’s top man. Chris Todd shone for Oddies.
Southwick outgunned The Lansdowne 7-1 in the Premier Division, but it was closer than the scoreline suggests.
Ross and Stokell put Southwick 2-0 up, then Tommy Alderson reduced the deficit.
Lansdowne had the chance of an equaliser, but Graeme Pickering’s good save changed the game. Southwick then ran riot, scoring five in 20 minutes, through Laidler (2), Ross, Butler and James Fairley, to take maximum points.
Farra Paragon ISL are still searching for their first league win after losing 3-2 to champions Hylton Castle TWR.
Anthony Mills and Adam McQuillan scored for the hosts, but the tidy TWR side were too good, with Liam Wooton, Callum Hodgson and Dan Martin doing the damage. Keeper Niall Thubron starred.
Farringdon Detached ended TC Plastics’ winning streak with a close 3-2 victory.
Josh Tuckwell, star man Rhys Brown and Jordan Wolfendale breached the home goal, with replies from Alan Tench and Josh Farquhar not enough for Plastics.
Victoria Gardens bounced back from the previous week’s horror show to earn a great point in a 1-1 draw against impressive SR Dons.
Michael Laws put Dons in front, but Lee Pearce came off the bench to equalise. Shaun Pickford saw red for Dons, with David Hall their top man.
