Schoolboy Mason Fraser got a present to remember as he enjoyed his sixth birthday – with a new baby brother!

There was double cause for celebration for proud parents Leanne and Mark with the arrival of the latest addition to the family.

Blake was born on Sunday, weighing a healthy six pounds and one ounce, exactly six years to the very day Mason had made his way into the world.

For Leanne, a 29-year-old kitchen assistant for Sunderland City Council, and Mark, a 39-year-old mechanic at Wearside Auto Centre, the coincidence was a shock.

But what made the news even sweeter was the fact Mason had even asked for a little brother as a birthday gift!

Leanne, from Nookside, told the Echo: “The baby was not due for another week, not until the 16th of this month, so it was a shock that they were born on the same day. Mason actually asked me for a baby for his birthday earlier this year, not just a baby, though, he wanted a baby brother.

“It was that same weekend that we found out I was pregnant again.

“It was crazy, we could not believe it”

“My waters broke on Saturday, but the baby didn’t arrive until Sunday.

“Mason is very excited that he got a little brother for his birthday, so he doesn’t mind sharing, at least there is no way we will forget it!”

Despite the excitement of a new baby arriving, Mason still managed to enjoy his own special day.

Leanne added: “He celebrated his own birthday with a party at Cheeky Charlies in Hylton Castle.

“It was already booked for Sunday, so my friend came and took him over and he played with all of his friends and family all day.

“He had such a good time we are not even certain if he noticed that me and his dad were not there, he probably didn’t, to be honest!”

Exactly six years earlier the couple were celebrating the birth of their second son Mason.

Blake is the youngest of three brothers, after Mason and nine-year-old Ethan, who both attend Academy 360 in Pennywell.

The likelihood of siblings sharing a birthday is somewhat low with a 365/1 probability.
