Rose has long-term Spurs future – Poch

-

Mauricio Pochettino insists Tottenham defender Danny Rose does have a long-term future at the club.

Ex-Sunderland loanee Rose came off the bench against Real Madrid on Tuesday, to make his first appearance since suffering a knee injury on Spurs duty at the Stadium of Light almost nine months ago.

It was also Rose’s first game since suggesting in August he would be open to leaving, and questioning Spurs’ transfer policy. Pochettino has shown little patience with such indiscipline in the past, but said yesterday that Rose is now happy and ready to stay long-term.

“Of course, he has four years more on his contract, of course,” the Argentinian said of the 27-yearold. “You could see he helped the team in the final few minutes against Real Madrid. He is happy, his behaviour is fantastic. “His mind is clear that what happened is in the past and we need to move on. He is part of my plans. The past is in the past. “In life, they are young and they can mistakes but the most important thing is that they can learn from that.” Rose is unlikely to start against Liverpool tomorrow as he is still regaining match fitness, while Ben Davies has recovered from the illness that prevented him from playing at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Mousa Dembele’s injury-hit campaign is being hampered by a fresh hip problem, while Victor Wanyama will see a specialist next week as he continues to struggle with a knee problem.

Sunderland-born Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson is set for a recall, having been rested for the 7-0 Champions League rout of Maribor, while former SAFC club-mate Simon Mignolet will return in goal.
