Cats next for Robins side sunk by Leeds

-

Bristol City head coach Lee Johnson had no complaints about Saturday’s 3-0 Championship defeat at home to Leeds United.

Defeat saw the Ashton Gate men slip down to seventh place in the table, going into this weekend’s visit to Sunderland.

Ahead of the Stadium of Light meeting, though, the Robins must first focus on tomorrow’s Carabao Cup clash with Premier League strugglers Crystal Palace.

“Overall, it was a bad day at the office for us,” admitted Johnson. “We were weak and that is not usually the case.

“We were off it in the first 20 minutes and that’s is when the game was decided.

“Some key players were missing through injury and illness, but those selected were capable of better. “Now we face Crystal Palace in the Carabao Cup and need to get back to form quickly.” Both sides were reduced to 10 men near the end when Leeds fullback Gaetano Berardi was sent off along with City substitute Matt Taylor for an angry confrontation following a foul by the visiting defender. “I have seen the incident again and, as far as I am concerned, Matty was blameless other than to register a complaint over being fouled,” added Johnson,

“My player has a broken nose so it was a nasty clash. We will definitely appeal the decision and I think the film evidence backs our case.

Leeds ended a three-match losing streak, dominating from the first whistle and fully deserved the success secured by two-goal Sam Saiz and Pierre-Michel Lasogga.
