Smith and Leslie hold their nerve to secure Hylton win

In the Danby Autos Sunderland Snooker League, South Hylton A travelled to Glendale and started well, thanks to Adam Smith.

John Danby started to second frame against Graham Rutland strongly, building up a good lead before a 36 break saw Graham come back and take the lead.

A final black by Danby saw him pinch the frame 65-61.

An excellent 20 break saw John Wiseman win the third frame, before Gavin Dixon levelled the match.

In the pairs, Smith/Norman Leslie won Hylton the match when beating Frank McParlin/Paul Atkinson 65-45.

The match between Seaham Conservati­ves A and Steels was expected to be close and the singles alternated into a 2-2 situation before Seaham took the pairs for the overall 3-2 result.

Biddick A welcomed Murton Officials and good off to a good start with Stephen Tate winning a high scoring first frame.

Terry Froud increased Biddick’s lead before David Adamson won the third frame.

Jackson Mason pulled one back for Murton, before Steven Cook/Stephen Clementson beat David Adamson/Terry Froud 70-48 in the pairs to reduce the defeat to 3-2.

Graeme Ablett got Boldon CA off to an excellent start at home to Pennywell Comrades B, before breaks of 24 and 20 saw John Smith win the second frame.

John Cromby potted well to win the third frame before John Cox won the fourth frame.

In the pairs, Michael Grieveson/Graeme Ablett beat Chris Hallett/Andy Doran 73-32 to complete the clean sweep.

Biddick B got off to a good start away to Mill View with John Temple winning the first frame, but Howard Lax levelled.

Lee Dixon moved Mill View into the lead, before Steve Chandler won the fourth frame.

In the pairs, Lee Dixon/ Howard Lax beat Peter Mills/ Paul Cobb 58-35 for an excellent 4-1 win.

Pennywell Comrades A welcomed The Victory and started well with Kevin Harrop winning a close first frame against Gerry Porter.

Joe Turner increased Pen- nywell’s lead, before Dean Taylor won the third frame against Darren Dowell.

Ray James pulled one back for The Victory, before teaming up with Gary Moore to win the pairs, beating Steve O’Wellen/Dean Taylor 57-50 to reduce the defeat to 3-2.

Andrew Fox got South Hylton B off to a good start at home to Lumley winning the first frame against Don Roberts, but Brian Meuse soon levelled the match.

Roful Hoque moved Lumley into the lead when beating Bobby Boyce before Tony Hazard again levelled the match.

In the pairs, a 30 break by Bobby Boyce, when paired with Tony Hazard, helped win the frame beating Roful Hoque/ Brian Meuse 66-35 for the 3-2 win.
