The exit deal must suit all
I feel I must reply to Mr Tomlinson, and this shall be my last comment on leaving the EU.
Firstly, as accused by Mr Tomlinson, I am certainly not trying to confuse, bewilder or stupify anyone.
Unlike the moaning Brexiteers, who seem to think only they are allowed to put forward a debate, I truly believe in the right, within a democracy, to have and express an opinion.
Living in a democracy doesn’t mean that I cannot express remiss at a decision I do not think is right.
Mr Tomlinson, like most moaning Brexiteers, seems to accuse me of simply wanting to reverse the referendum result. Nothing could be further from the truth.
What I do want is for those negotiating the Exit deal to represent all the residents of the UK, not just those who voted in the affirmitave.
Just because you voted Yes, it does not give you or any yes voters Carte Blanche to ride roughshod over me or anyone who has concerns about the Exit from Europe.
No one can deny that the Conservative Party is deeply split over what path it should take toward Leaving the EU.
A large group of its members, and some of its Ministers, are constantly trying to undermine the Prime Minister and the Exit Negotiators.
This is obviously because they wish to leave Europe at any cost, be it good or bad.
The Conservatives are the ruling party in Parliament, and they are in charge of the negotiating process.
It is of great importance that it should be they who need to get behind this wonderful country and try for the best exit result possible.
As to waking up in 2019, as Mr Tomlinson states, in the winners enclosure. Does he not watch any news programmes or read any newspapers.
The negotiating team, and Mrs May have already stated that for a successful exit deal a transition period of at least two years is needed.
This will ensure a responsible Exit.
She has also declared categorically that MPs will have a vote in Parliament on the final deal.
Unlike Mr Tomlinson, I strongly believe that only a voter supported responsible Exit from Europe will enhance the future of the UK.
To leave Europe at any cost will not make this a Great Nation, but an irresponsible one that may miss the chance to be seen as caring for all its citizens, not just those who see a future that seems to be unfortunately based in a colonial past. Arthur Oxley
