Phil Cronin, Chief Executive of tombola, was delighted to have again been nominated and crowned winners in the UK Bingo Operator of the Year and most socially responsible operator categories.

The firm is no stranger to being honoured for its achievements.

“Tombola has won 15 prestigious awards in the UK since the industry awards began including Bingo Operator of the Year and most socially responsible operator,” said Mr Cronin.

Now in its 13th year, the industry’s most distinguished awards ceremony took place at Grosvenor House on London’s Park Lane.

More than 800 e-gaming professionals attended the ceremony, which celebrates operational excellence and commercial success in the sector.

Tombola currently employs nearly 400 people, of which 70 are based in Italy, Spain and Gibraltar.

The firm is building a new head office in Sunderland.

It has one of the North East’s largest tech teams and unlike most other online gaming companies, tombola’s own designers and developers create all the games for its popular and successful website and apps, as well as for its tombola Arcade.

The company also scooped the two biggest awards at a ceremony in Rome earlier this week, winning the prestigious Operator of the Year award and most Socially Responsible Operator for Italy.

tombolahasnowwonmore than a dozen industry awards in Italy, as well as Best Operator in Spain since launching on the continent only four years ago.

Mr Cronin added: “It was a huge achievement to finish top in Italy as well as we were up against all of the major Italian online operators.

“Winning our fourth consecutive Bingo Operator of the Year award in Italy is fantastic having only launched there four years ago.

“Tombola is now the largest and most successful bingo operator in the UK, Spain and Italy and we are currently looking at new international territories for expansion.”
