SOCIAL MEDIA – WHAT YOU SAID ON SAFC’S 3-0 WIN AT CHELSEA IN NOVEMBER 2010

-

Seven years ago this week, Sunderland produced arguably their best all-round performance since the turn of the century, beating star-studded Chelsea 3-0 at Stamford Bridge, a far cry from the current plight.

Nedum Onuoha, Asamoah Gyan and Danny Welbeck grabbed the goals on a memorable day for the delirious travelling fans.

We asked for your memories of the game, and asked where it went wrong after that, with manager Steve Bruce axed a year later.

On the game

Michael Parry: Best Sunderland performance in the last ten years by a mile! John Constable: Watched it late in my donga on Varanus island, guy asked score in the morning, thought it was Chelski win, brilliant Gareth Jones: I remember doing the Gyan dance in my living room. Onouha’s goal was Messi-like. Lol

On what went wrong afterwards

David Wild: It all went wrong when Short forced Quinny out of the club. Bad decisions after bad decisions ever since he left

Steven Jones: The following summer which saw all that lot gone plus Malbranque, Henderson etc to be replaced by Vaughan, Gardner, Ji, Wickham etc Barry Anderson: It went wrong by selling Bent and Gyan, and Welbeck returned! We lost our full forward line! Again bad decisions by Short. The start of the downfall

Paul Boovont Scott: Spot on not only the forwards, we let Steed, Hendo, Bolo, Muntari leave and brought Vaughan, Gardner, Larsson in shocking transfers by Bruce in 2011. Short chose not to sign Muntari for £2m but pay £5m for Craig Gardner?

Terry Ward: It all went wrong because of where he came from

Jason Abbott: We were hampered by getting players in on loan as opposed to buying them.
