Thursday, November 23 – Christmas Light Switch-on

Kickstart the countdown to Christmas with a whole lot of fun at Keel Square. Popstar Pixie Lott will be there to start the party along with a whole host of entertainm­ent, street food and not forgetting, a special pyrotechni­cs performanc­e to launch the Fire Station.

Friday, November 24 – Black Friday

Bargains galore across the city on the busiest shopping day of the year. Discounts and special offers at the Bridges, which will be open until 7pm.

Friday, November 24, to Christmas Eve – Park Lane Market

Bags for life at the ready, because for one month only, Park Lane’s under cover market is being transforme­d into a treasure trove full of festive gifts and homemade goodies for you to treat yourself, your family and friends to this Noel …

Saturday, November 25 – Community Spirit

From 25 November and every Thursday evening and weekend following until Christmas, Park Lane will showcase the very best of Sunderland’s diverse communitie­s and talent, with local musicians, Bollywood dancers, school choirs and more.

Thursday, November 30 – Ice Gala

Sunderland’s real, open air ice rink is back for the third year running (until 7 Jan 2018), starting with a spectacula­r launch show featuring profession­al ice skaters Gary Beacom and Lisa Brewin.

Saturday, December 9 – Ha’ way in a Manger 2017

Celebrate the reason for the season in the heart of Park Lane with storytelli­ng, dance and music performanc­es, choirs and musicians in an annual event that brings the community together.

Sunday, December 17 – Reindeer Run, the Bridges

Saturday, December 23 – Christmas Countdown

The excitement is real and Santa’s only days away from sliding down the chimney, so why not dress up in your best festive get-up – Santa suits and reindeer ears welcome – and come on down to the rink for a celebratio­n…

Sunday, December 24 – Christmas Eve

Need to tire the kids out so they sleep tonight? Take them for a final whizz around the rink before the big man arrives… though, booking is advised.

Sunday, December 31 – New Year’s Eve

Christmas might be over but that doesn’t mean the fun has to end. Pop on your finest winter woollies and head down to Keel Square for a final day of fun in 2017.
