Fuess’s fab treble sees seconds bounce back

-

Sunderland Broom seconds responded to the previous week’s defeat in the best possible style when surged to a stunning 6-0 victory over Richmond.

Having suffered their first league loss the previous weekend, Sunderland were desperate to get back to winning ways and return to the top echelons of the league.

They did so in style with one of their best away performances of the season.

Both teams started well with a number of early short corner scoring opportunties which neither could convert.

However, Sunderland managed to convert their fourth short corner through Max Fuess, when he slotted home following an excellent 1-2 with Jamie Emmerson at the top of the circle.

Sunderland took confidence from this breakthrough and managed to score a second breakaway goal just before half time through Adam Pawley, following some excellent play down the right wing by Chris Vaughn.

In the second half, Sunderland’s pace down the wings and the hard work rate and fine passing in midfield began to tell.

Sunderland added a third goal through Jamie Emmerson, with an excellent strike from the top of the circle, following a fine through pass from Pawley.

The fourth goal was the pick of the bunch and came from a superb reverse stick strike from Fuess.

The fifth was scored from another breakaway move by striker George Tolley.

Fuess completed his hat-trick when scoring the final goal with another short corner finish which was a flick into the top corner of the Richmond net.

This was a fine league win for the Wearsiders with the midfield of Vaughan, Emmerson and Fuess dominating throughout and the pace of forwards Adam Pawley, Adam Dehenny and George Tolley always causing scoring opportunities.

Sunderland seconds’ next game sees them taking on local rivals Hartlepool at Sandhill.
