Here is a selection of your latest comments on the city’s litter problem posted to our Facebook page:

Sunderland has always had a litter problem – it’s about personal responsibility and education by parents on what is right and wrong.

Unfortunately I’ve seen adults walk past litter bins and still throw their litter on the ground.

It’s just down to lazy people, when I was younger I was told by my parents if you have sweets or anything with a wrapper and there is no bins to put it in. TAKE YOUR LITTER HOME, don’t throw it in the streets.

There are an awful lot of slovenly adults who are just as guilty of littering. I’m really pleased this issue is coming to the attention of local people, and hopefully more like minded people will realise what a serious issue this is.

It’s easier to blame the council than take your litter home.

Just put ya litter in the bin, SIMPLE.
