Job Show North East founders pick up national award

-

Helping hundreds of Wearsiders into work has paid off in style for the team behind The Job Show North East.

The Stadium of Light has hosted The Job Show – the nationwide quality recruitment and careers event – three times in the last year, finding would-be workers for dozens of North East companies.

Now the two women behind it have been crowned winners of The Community Business of the Year at the SME National Business Awards 2017.

Wembley Stadium welcomed the SME National Business Awards this month.

More than 450 business people from across the UK joined together to celebrate their achievements over the past year.

With a maximum of 14 companies in any one category going through to the finals co-founders Victoria Clarke and Caroline Connaughton were delighted just to be recognised, let alone win..

“We are delighted and thrilled to win The Community Business of the Year Award,” said Victoria.

“This recognition will give us even greater determination to continue producing more rewarding and successful recruitment and careers events for the community and make a difference.”

The Job Show gathers each region’s top employers, training providers, universities, colleges and organisations all under one roof and take place at Premiership, Championship and Division 1 football clubs.

The event aims to give job seekers the perfect platform to unite talent with opportunity and come face-to- face with top employers seeking quality candidates, allowing them a chance to pitch direct.

The idea was sparked by the doom and gloom of the current tough economic climate, when Victoria and Caroline recognised a need to revitalize traditional job seeking strategies, firmly believing that “people buy people” and a face-to- face meeting is vital in the digital age.
