STORY: Two Facebook posts by a pub have been banned for using Nazi imagery and “trivialising” the Second World War to advertise a German food night

Robert White: It’s history, yes it was a terrible war but no one is blocking ISIS symbols like their flags etc. It happened so why treat any images as if it’s the only war which ever happened. PC gone mad.

Gemma Errington: There’s a reason we don’t have programmes like Fawlty Towers

anymore. I’m sure there was no real maliciousness behind it but like it or not this is not the world we live in anymore. The days of satire and ‘jokes’ are gone. People get offended and have many public platforms to voice that offence these days. If you are going to try to market something as a business owner you just can’t be this short sighted. Alyson Wardle: A particularly stupid advert or extremely naive. I know which option I think it is. The lack of understanding is worrying. Use the phrase but use a Basil Fawlty picture.
