STORY: readers slam dumpers leaving rubbish in Sunderland streets

Lynn Kirby: Keep the fortnightly bin collections but bring back the street sweepers to get all the rubbish that’s lying in the gutters after the bins get emptied. Sunderland is an absolute embarrassment. Sarah Jane O’Neill: People have to take some responsibility for their rubbish I know they’ll blame council cutting bin collections but people need to take responsibility for their own rubbish.

don’t bin their rubbish. Plastic is not to blame. It’s what people do or don’t do with it that causes the trouble. Must admit lots of goods unnecessarily wrapped in plastic.

Anthony Ditchburn: Our street used to be spotless when the bloke came round with his brush and cart, since he got finished years ago it’s an absolute disgrace, bring back the road sweepers.
