The future is bright and exciting

-

The progress of our pupils over the last few years has been amazing, with Thornhill making more progress with their pupils than any other school in Sunderland.

However, it’s not just progress with pupils, since September 2017, Thornhill has been under new management with Mr Redford and Ms Luke at the helm.

Both these members of staff are already well known in the new academy and have seen many previous pupils succeed over the years.

Not only has the management team changed but Consilium, the academy trust, which has taken Thornhill on as part of the development of a new Multi Academy Trust, has a very different approach.

Consilium was approved as a Multi-Academy Trust in January 2015.

The Trust now has six academies across three hubs in the North of England (Doncaster, Salford and here in the North East) and a further four schools at various stages of academy conversion.

They are currently consolidating the Trust partnership of schools and are planning to grow to 12-15 schools in total in the long term.

Consilium is a different type of academy trust.

They don’t have a lead school and instead operate as a partnership.

A small central team provide direct services to their schools as well as trust-level accountability, leadership and management.

They provide school improvement support through a strong team of school improvement advisers and through the specialisms and expertise within their developing partnerships and from a range of external partners.

We feel our future is bright and exciting!
