CAMRON TO CALL THE SHOTS

-

Nigel Hawke is never afraid to send his horses on a long journey in search of success and Camron De Chaillac can make the 680-mile round trip pay with victory at Sedgefield tomorrow.

Hawke’s skill as a trainer was proved by Camron De Chaillac when he got off the mark at the 11th attempt at Taunton four weeks ago.

The six-year-old had been well beaten in most races, once by 100 lengths as recently as November.

However, the Devon handler saw a noticeable improvement when fitting him with cheekpieces at Wincanton that resulted in a close-up third.

Buoyed by that result, Hawke got an even better reaction when applying cheekpieces for a handicap hurdle over two miles and three furlongs at Taunton.

Camron De Chaillac showed plenty of determination to hold Arthur Burrell by a head. He has gone up 4lb for that success and can show he is still going the right way by landing the SIS Dylan Meale Memorial Handicap Hurdle.

Burrenbridge Hotel can successfully step up in class to take the Brian Ellison Racing Novices’ Limited Handicap Chase.

Trainer Henry Oliver feels the seven-year-old deserves the chance in a higher grade after victories at Hereford and Taunton.

The handicapper has put Burrenbridge Hotel up 17lb for that brace and there looks to be more to come from him.

Rear Admiral has had a nice break since winning at Newcastle in November and can show he is still no back-number at the age of 12 by lifting the Happy New Year From Patrons Handicap Chase.

Stoical Patient can win at Fontwell for the third time by taking the Westbourne Handicap Chase.
