Boldon fail to take advantage of leaders’ postponeme­nt

Boldon CA missed the opportunit­y to close the gap at the top of the Danby Autos Sunderland Snooker League after suffering a 4-1 defeat at the hands of Seaham Conservati­ves A.

With the match between league leaders South Hylton A and Biddick B postponed, Boldon now had Hylton in their sights.

Derek White got Boldon off to a good start before Gary Stockton levelled the match.

Michael Monaghan moved Seaham into the lead before Ian Hughes won the fourth frame.

In the pairs, Monaghan/ Les Pinder beat John Cox/ John Smith 60-51 for an excellent Seaham 4-1 win, leaving Boldon rueing a missed opportunit­y.

The match between Seaham Conservati­ves B and The Victory was expected to be close and the singles alternated into a 2-2 situation before The Victory took the pairs for the overall 3-2 result.

Pennywell Comrades A welcomed Steels and got off to an excellent start with Kevin Harrop and Dean Taylor putting them in control.

Joe Turner increased the lead before Jimmy Gales pulled one back for Steels.

In the pairs, Ray Charlton Senior/Vince Flynn reduced the defeat to 3-2 when they defeated Steve O’Wellen/ Steven Smith 71-63 to win the frame.

Lee Dixon got Mill View off to a good start at home to Lumley winning the first frame before Sean Henderson levelled proceeding­s.

Roful Hoque moved Lumley into the lead before Neil Lowden had a good result beating Steve Chandler 60- 24.

John Spruce/Norman Brown pulled a frame back for Mill View, winning the pairs frame against Lowden/ Don Roberts 61-39 to reduce the defeat to 3-2.

Biddick A started strongly at home to South Hylton B with Steven Tate winning the first frame, while Terry Froud extended the lead.

Tony Hazard pulled one back for Hylton before a 22 break helped Rod Turnbull win the fourth frame.

David Adamson/Froud won a close pairs frame beating Bobby Boyce/Hazard 5443 for an excellent 4-1 win.

The Hetton Centre welcomed Murton Officials and started well through Paul Stoves before Steven Cook levelled.

Paul Nord moved Hetton into the lead before Steven Rushworth won a high scoring fourth frame against Stephen Clementson 71-45.

In the pairs, Cook/Eddie Williamson won on the final black beating Stoves/Nord 68-65 to reduce the defeat to 3-2.

The match between Glendale and Pennywell Comrades B was postponed due to a shortage of Pennywell players and due to not giving the due notice, Comrades have been docked seven points and fined.

Also, Glendale have been docked 10 points for falsifying the scorecard.
