Skis, sledging and snow in the freezing city

-

The weather outside may have been frightful – but that didn’t stop you from having a delightful time in the snow!

It’s been a freezing-cold week, but Wearside families have really made the most of the picturesque snow with some fun outdoor activities.

We’ve admired your snowmen (and snow animals too), watched your sledging and laughed along as you found inventive ways to get out and about in the city during the severe driving conditions.

DarrenTrimby,36,wasbuying building supplies at B&Q in Deptford when he decided to fashion himself some skis.

A great picture, taken by his son Luke, age 11, became a social media sensation.

Darren, of Fulwell, said: “I decided to use the MDF strips I had bought as skis and skied across half the width of the car park. It was a great laugh.”

Meanwhile, weekend visitors to Roker Pier may have spotted an adorable seal pup having a rest on Sunday. The pup had come ashore for a rest, and was spotted by dog walker Jo Evans, 49, from Plains Farm.

Throughout the week, we watched as loads of you in action taking to the hills to try your hand at sledging. And one woman, who didn’t want to be named, was lucky enough to capture her own You’ve Been Framed moment on camera.

She was filming her niece and nephew sledging near The HollymerePub,inGrangetown. As the youngsters raced down a slope, theyaccidentallyknocked over a girl who happened to be walking down at the time.

Luckily, she landed safely in the snow and was unhurt.
