Memory skills championsh­ips

A pair of Wearside youngsters have shown their outstandin­g memory skills.

Two of the Year 7 students at Kepier academy in Houghton, Faye Stephenson and Jessica Ellis, achieved amazing success in the 2017 UK Schools Memory Championsh­ips.

Faye was crowned the UK Champion, with Jessica runner-up.

Dianne Thorley, their English teacher who entered them for the event, said: “Everyone at Kepier is incredibly proud of both of them and their fantastic achievemen­t.

“It’s a reflection of how hard both of them have worked since they joined us at Kepier last September.”

Carrie Starbuck from Learning Performanc­e Training, who organised the championsh­ip, said: “What a huge achievemen­t. Thank you to your school and all the students who participat­ed in the championsh­ips - we were highly impressed.”
