STORY: Close all shops to mark centenary of First World War Armistice, says MP

Elizabeth Robinson: Yes, and

pubs. Then maybe people would actually take time to reflect. I hate that it gets to 11 o’clock and you see people on their phones and not giving the proverbial.

Anne Neville: While I like the idea, I don’t think it would be feasible, probably cause panic buying on the Friday and Saturday, and no shops open would probably mean more people in pubs, which would more than likely cause trouble.

Dave Ridley: Sunday is the busiest day of the week for lots of shops.

I don’t see how closing would achieve anything. Easter Sunday is already a disaster for most of them.

Paul Scrafton: It’ll feel like Wednesday afternoon all over again.
