Egg-cellent Good Friday park event

Are you on song for Easter? A popular seasonal event returns to the city.

The Good Friday Songs of Praise open-air gathering will once again take place at Mowbray Park’s bandstand in Sunderland city centre at 1pm on Good Friday, which this year falls on March 30.

An annual event to remember the death of Jesus, the event, which is for all the people of Sunderland, has replaced the march which used to gather at the Civic Centre on Good Friday.

Dozens attend the event each year, which has become popular in its own right.

Arranged by Reverend David Hands MBE, Minister of the Church of the Nazarene in Millfield, it also features performances from the Salvation Army and the choir of The Living Praise Church in Pallion, as well as other highlights.
