Social workers are praised
The work of social workers across County Durham was recognised at a ceremony.
To mark today’s World Social Work Day, Durham County Council invited social workers from adult and children’s services to discuss how the work they do makes a real difference.
Coun Lucy Hovvels, Cabinet member for adult and health services, said: “Social workers make a real difference and positively change the lives of service users, families and carers. World Social Work Day provides a great opportunity to stop and reflect and to recognise the work of the staff who undertake this challenging and demanding role.”
Coun Olwyn Gunn, Cabinet member for children and young people, said: “Every single day they are supporting families, every single day they are supporting children and young people.”
