Orchestra has spring in step
The weather may still be wintery, but Sunderland Symphony Orchestra is stepping into spring with a seasonal concert.
The musicians will perform Music from Stage and Screen on Saturday at 7.30pm at West Park Church in Stockton Road.
In a concert which marks the orchestra’s 18th anniversary, the programme is full of lively and vigorous tunes that will be instantly recognisable to most people.
Selections from Jesus Christ Superstar, The King and I, Oklahoma, James Bond and My Fair Lady will be played along with music by Gershwin and Borodin (Polovtsian Dances). The theme from Schindler’s List (John Williams) will feature Judith Thompson playing the violin solo, and The Watermill by Ronald Binge will feature Fiona Preston on the oboe.
Tickets are £8 on the door.
