DOWN YOUR WAY
Every Tuesday in your Echo
On Saturday, March 31, Becki Bradley organised an Easter Egg Hunt as part of the ‘Save West Park’ campaign. Despite the awful weather more than 100 people turned up to the event, which was hailed a huge success by all those who attended. Becki, who bought all the chocolate treats herself, was delighted with the success of the event and has pledged to organise the hunt again next Easter, when hopefully the sun might shine. The herd of cattle have returned to West Park at Middle Herrington for summer grazing. They arrived a little early this year and faced the terrible Easter weather. The herd of 10 is no longer the pure deep red South Devon’s but the young bullocks look immaculate. They have a pattern of movement around the park which relates to the time of day. Dog walkers are asked to stay outside the grazing area as the young bullocks are very timid and uncomfortable with people. All tickets for the Herrington Village Show social evening have been sold. A date for a second show at Lakeside, again featuring entertainer Janie St John and the Herrington Players suffragette pageant, will be announced shortly. Volunteers for Herrington litter pick, scheduled for Saturday, April 14, are needed. Coverage depending on numbers is to include Middle Herrington and West Park and hopefully extend around the Board Inn. Meet at the Scout Hut in Crow Lane from 10am for instruction and equipment. Contact Coun Gillian Galbraith on 0191 5227337 for more details. Refreshments will be served before and after the event.
