Sunderland youngsters also suffer relegation

Ryhope CW went down 3-1 at home to title-chasing Marske United in the Ebac Northern League Division One last night.

Marske went ahead when James Fairley found the net after 16 minutes. Ryhope snatched an equaliser on the stroke of half time, when Michael Rae scored their equaliser with a great diving header. Glen Butterwort­h restored United’s lead on 64 minutes, when he lobbed into an empty net following a save from goalkeeper, Jonathan Ball and three minutes later, Fairley chipped the third to make it 3-1.

Sunderland RCA stay fifth after drawing 1-1 at home to Consett.

They took a late lead on 78 minutes when Colin Larkin turned defender Ryan McKinnon and finished well from the edge of the area.

However, in the 91st minute Arjun Purewal scored a dramatic equaliser.

Seaham Red Star earned a vital point in a 1-1 draw at Newton Aycliffe.

They took a 28th minute lead when Liam McBryde lobbed the goalkeeper. However, Thibault Charmey hit a thunderbol­t of a volley to equalise on 62 minutes.

West Auckland Town travelled to Newcastle Benfield and were a goal down when Paul Brayson scored from close range after 32 minutes, and that proved to be the match winner.

Billingham Synthonia journeyed to North Shields and lost 5-0. Ben Harmison hit four goals before halftime, and Ben Sampson made it 5-0 after the break.

Team Northumbri­a were a goal down at home to Dunston UTS, when Dale Burrell scored after 37 minutes, but Ben Dibb-Fuller earned his team a point with an 86th minute equaliser.

Whitley Bay lost 4-1 at home to league leaders Morpeth Town. The visitors went ahead on 14 minutes through Jordan Fry and Sean Taylor’s header made it 2-0 in the 63rd minute.

With 20 minutes left, Liam Brooks pulled a goal back for Bay, but after 80 minutes Joe Walton smashed the ball home for Bay’s third, and Wayne Phillips made it 4-1 in the last minute.

In Division Two, Chesterle-Street lost 1-0 at home to relegation-threatened Darlington RA after a goal from David Harrison.
