Good news, but not for Chris

-

Sunderland fans have been having their say on the Echo’s Facebook page about Ellis Short striking a deal to sell the club, the sacking of manager Chris Coleman and what the future may hold for the Black Cats next season in League One.

Talk has also centred on Stewart Donald, the Eastleigh FC chairman who has led the consortium to buy the club from Short, and also who will replace Coleman.

Vicki Cowan wrote: “Happy club has been sold, think that if Coleman wants to stay and has passion that would have been a good thing, sad that he has been let go without a chance to build his team.”

Kevin Duggan added: “Sad times for Coleman, but happy times for our future.

“We hope our rebuilding starts now so come on Sunderland let’s start by getting rid of the deadwood and get some quality in the team and onwards and upwards SAFC till I die.”

PJ Bald wrote: “I’d try and get Roy Keane back.”

Becca Drinkald wrote: “Great news the club is being sold, but Chris was the right man! Gutted for him he left a great job as Wales manager to come here it didn’t work out this season and he hasn’t been given his chance yet with his own team!”

Ged Laydon added: “I’m ashamed, Coleman wanted to stay, this season was not his fault.

“Wenger, Conte, and Mourinho combined couldn’t have saved a club that is rotten to its core. Coleman could have done a good rebuilding job of given the chance.”

Geoff Hudson added: “Great news that the club is going to be sold (subject to EFL approval) and a final positive gesture from Ellis Short to end this miserable period in time as an SAFC supporter.”
