The service at 10.30am on Sunday is a family service. This is a regular service on the first Sunday of each month. Sunday, May 20, is Children’s Day and there will be special services at 10.30am and 6pm. Arrangemen­ts are being made for monthly community coffee mornings from 10am to 11.30am. The first one is May 12 and then June 9 and July 14. All welcome.

Women’s Fellowship meet every Monday from 2pm to 3pm. This is held in the school room, entrance through the red door at the rear of the church.

Ring Margaret Davison on 536 7388 or email margaret-davison1@sky.com Pupils in Classes KS2 at Hedworth Lane Primary School in Boldon Colliery took part in the annual Easter Egg Decorating Competitio­n and the theme this year was famous people and places around the world. As always the children gave it their all and turned up some eggtastic designs. The Arts Council had a very difficult job judging the competitio­n and choosing the winners and runners up for each class. The prize winners were awarded an Easter Egg at a special award assembly. Winners and runners-up included designs depicting Neil Eggstrong, Dora the Eggsplorer and Albert Eggstein to name just a few. At Hedworth Lane Primary School good manners at lunchtime are important. When the children remember their meal time manners, Mind your Ps and Qs, they are awarded a sticker or token and at end of term they may be chosen to accompany headteache­r, Tony Gill to a local restaurant so they can practice their skills of politeness and good manners. This term Frankie & Benny’s was the chosen restaurant and the pupils were even able to practice a little Italian together with Grazie on arrival and Arrivederc­i to the manager as they left. St Nicholas Church in West Boldon has now refurbishe­d three banners belonging to The Mothers’ Union, The Men’s Society and Boldon C of E School (now closed), all of which have been fitted with new poles and fittings and hung in the Chancel of the church. The next antique and interiors sale at Boldon Auction Galleries on Front Street in East Boldon will take place at 10am on Wednesday, May 9. The next general sale will take place on Wednesday, May 23. Pat Finch will be the speaker at the May 29 meeting of the Boldon’s History Society in the function room of The Grey Horse. Her subject will be Delaval Hall. At the June meeting Geraldine Straker will give a Beamish update and at the July meeting Margaret Hedley will give a presentati­on entitled Victorian Pit Wives, followed by the AGM. All are welcome at any of these meetings. Monkton Flower Club will meet in the St Peter’s Church hall on York Avenue, Jarrow, at 7.30pm tomorrow. Peter Barron will give a talk to members entitled Dad at Large. West Boldon Residents’ Associatio­n will meet on May 9 in The Wheatsheaf in West Boldon at 10am. This meeting will be the group’s AGM, after which actions for the group and social activities for the year will be planned. The next Jarrow/Boldon community Area Forum will take place in Jarrow Town Hall at 10am on Thursday 31st May. A Local History month session, covering Tyneside relatives who saw action in the First World War, will be held in Cleadon Park Library tomorrow from 10am to 2pm. There will also be a chance to find out more about any of your relatives from the area at Hebburn Library on May 16 and Jarrow Library on May 11 from 10am to 2pm.
