Every child matters at Shotton Hall
The Academy at Shotton Hall, in Peterlee, is a school that, for many years now, has been pushing itself to be one of the best, not just in the county, but in the country.
As well as being an outstanding Academy, a national teaching school, a teacher training centre and, more recently, a national research school, the Academy is also the founding member of the North East Learning Trust, which works to drive up standards of education across the region.
All this activity is good for the North East and good for the Academy.
In 2017, students achieved fantastic GCSE results, significantly exceeding national averages and placing Shotton Hall amongst the top performing schools in County Durham.
In their most recent Ofsted inspection they were judged to be “Outstanding” – the highest accolade a school can achieve.
However, ask the students what they value most about the Academy and fantastic facilities and the prospect of great results are just a part of the story.
It is the personal support, reassurance and inspiration they get from their teachers that leaves the biggest impression.
The Academy wants every child to become well-rounded young adults, equipped with both the academic and personal skills and attributes they need to succeed in the modern world.
