SOLILOQUY IS A CLASS ACT

Soliloquy can justify the decision to stump up a supplementary fee by winning the Qipco 1000 Guineas at Newmarket tomorrow.

The Dubawi filly came into 2018 under the radar having raced just twice as a juvenile, winning an Ascot maiden on her second start last September.

However, she announced her arrival on the main stage in some style, making every yard of the running to see off the reopposing Altyn Orda by a length and three-quarters.

Soliloquy got an excellent front-running ride that day and while Altyn Orda would be expected to improve for the run, the same comment also applies to Charlie Appleby’s winner.

She stayed on really well that day and having won over a mile at Ascot, the trip should be of little concern, while her Australian pedigree on the distaff side suggests quick ground should not be a worry.

Soliloquy has a chunk to find with the likes of stablemate Wild Illusion and Aidan O’Brien’s Happily, but she can rise to the challenge for the Godolphin team.

Appleby should also be on the mark with Wuheida in the Charm Spirit Dahlia Stakes.

Another supplementary entry for the team, Wuheida must concede weight all round in this nine-furlong contest but she shoulders that penalty for her fantastic Breeders’ Cup win in November.

After going close on numerous occasions at the top level after a late start to the campaign, Wuheida finally got her head in front at Del Mar.

While the Newmarket ground might not be quite as fast as that in California, the forecast dry spell should see it turn to Wuheida’s advantage.
