Hamish too hot for Phili to handle

Hamish Barrie scored an unbeaten 50 as Durham City cruised to victory by 40 runs against Philadelph­ia in the Durham Cricket Board’s Under-15s Ken Ferguson Memorial Trophy Group Two.

Batting first, City made 110-2 from their 20 overs, supported by Tom Reynolds (21) and Gabriel MCall (20no). Will Bland bagged the only wicket, while Luke Robinson forced a run-out.

In reply, Philadelph­ia finished 70-7, Robinson top-scoring with 20 and Archie Smiles adding 18.

Chester-le-Street beat Hetton Lyons by 30 runs.

Chester made 97-4, led by Lewis Kilkenny (34no) and Taylor Farrington (27). Lyons lost five wickets for just 15 runs in their reply, but Ben McKinney (26no) and Ryan O’Connor (17) put on 40 for the next wicket before O’Connor was run out. Hetton finished on 677, with Sebastian HughesPina­n taking 3-7.

Eppleton need one win to reach the semi-finals, following an eight-wicket Group One victory over Washington.

Washington won the toss and elected to bat, posting just 49 from 20 overs.

Aidan O’Brien (12) and Kieran Bennett (10) topscored for the Harraton side. Eppleton chased down the target in 13.3 overs as Hollie Forsyth scored an unbeaten 22, backed by Jye Richardson (10no).

Sacriston beat Burnmoor (92-2) by seven wickets.

Sunderland outgunned Boldon by 10 wickets in the Don Lyons Trophy Group One. Ethan Elsworth (28), Oliver Pallas (13) and Jacob McCord (13) helped Boldon to 72 all out as Matthew Heywood took 3-9 and Thomas Bowman 2-17.

Joe Defty (51no) and Heywood (14no) hurried Sunderland home.

In Group Two, Whitburn were beaten by 57 runs by South Shields, who reached 113-3, thanks to Ben Scott (51no). Mark Trotter took 2-20.

Whitburn replied with 61-5, led by Ben Kennedy (19) and Trotter (12no).

Luke Johnson (32), Adam Welch (30) and Jack Metcalfe (30) and Tyler Beston (24no) helped Eppleton Under-13s post 167-2 against Washington, who replied with 59-7 as Anna Lockwood bagged 3-5 and Scott Reay took 2-8.
