UNBEATEN VILLAGERS CLINCH PREMIER TITLE BY OUTGUNNING DEFENDING CHAMPIONS

Sherburn Village clinched the Premier Division title in superb style, sinking defending champions Pelton RAOB 3-0.
Unbeaten Sherburn kept their composure throughout and captain Scott Arnott led by example with a welltaken double, while man of the match Tom Young also netted.
Their celebrations started when news came through of Newton Aycliffe Huntsman’s 1-0 defeat at Chilton WMC, sealing the title for Sherburn with two games to spare.
Chilton won thanks to a neat Kadam Parnaby finish, after good work from Michael Searby.
Keeper Adam Pickford was outstanding for Chilton.
Brandon Sports Club were relegated after a 3-1 home loss to Houghton Town.
Town led at the break and doubled their lead before Brandon missed a penalty.
Andrew Morris tapped in to give Brandon a lifeline, but Houghton hit a decisive third goal to guarantee a fifth-place finish.
Bottom club Washington Cross Keys bagged only their third win, 3-2 at Ferryhill Celtic, for whom Kyle Wren hit both goals.
In midweek, Pelton RAOB won 6-2 at Ferryhill Dynamos,thankstoCameron Nichol (3), Connor Shaw and Jack Honour (2).
Durham County moved top in Division One with a 4-0 rout of New Brancepeth WMC.
James Huntley, Joe Jenkinson, Jack Carr and Alex Hird struck to take County a point above Burnside WMC, with both sides having a game left.
This weekend, County host Sacriston WMC and Burnside visit Bede Lodge SC.
Coxhoe Red Lion won 6-2 at bottom club Bede Lodge to rise to fourth place.
Michael Hogg (3), Michael Oughton and Adam Strong (2) struck, with Daniel Mann and Lee Huitson replying.
East Rainton edged closer to the Second Division title with two home wins.
The table-toppers’ quality told in a tight clash as they beat Pittington 2-0, thanks to Olly Hotchkiss and Lee Gaunt.
On Tuesday, Rainton won a cracking clash 2-1 against Ouston Juniors.
Ouston had a couple of chances before Rainton took the lead with a header from a well-delivered free-kick.
Ouston equalised when Louis Tiplady finished off a lovely move down the left. But Rainton won it with Lee Gaunt firing his second goal of the game.
Chester Garden Farm saw off Houghton Chilton Lodge 7-0 to complete a 24-4 aggregate in their two league games.
Lodge were competitive in the first half, trailing 2-0 to goals they felt could have been offside, but Garden Farm capitalised on their tired legs in the second period.
Dubmire WMC were 3-0 up before Ushaw Moor Cricket Club got up to full strength after half an hour.
Barry Turton (2), Jed Croft, Jordan Croft and Mark Liddle guided Dubmire home, with Kane Collins replying.
Lambton Lions demolishedSedgefieldSC7-0, with Kenneth Dodd’s treble backed by Ross Mitchinson (2), Jamie Arthurs and Joe Rutter.
In midweek, Lions won 4-1 at Pittington, with Lewis Mitchinson (2), Ross Mitchinson and Kieran Dixon on target. Tommy Wray (2), Bradley Short (2), Ryan Johnson, Dan Johnson and Kieron Allison notched.
Lumley Snooker Club won 4-2 at Bowburn thanks to efforts from Tyson (2), Drinkwater and Thomas. Josh Chilver hit both replies.
Lumley drew 2-2 with Chester Whitehills, thanks to Scott Melvin and Dan Jowett, then boosted their survival push with a 7-0 midweek mauling of Bowburn.
Jonathan Bell (2), Ben Cornell (2), Dan Melvine, Jon Cossar and Lindsay Collinson did the damage.
Newton Aycliffe Navy Club hit 28 goals in two games to seal the Third Division title.
First up, they beat Sacriston The Shoes 13-0, with four goals apiece from Reece Gowing and Anthony Harrison backed by Charlie Fowler (3) and Reed Molloy (2).
Navy then demolished Witton Gilbert WMC 15-1 in midweek, with Harrison hitting high goals and Fowler grabbing another hat-trick.
Wayne Gough, Gowing, Molloy and Mathew Morgan also scored, with Adam Cook replying.
Runners-up Gilesgate Woodman Inn signed off with a 9-1 success at Sacriston The Shoes, with Nick Gibson’s hattrick supporter by Matthew Petts (2), Richard Begg (2), Daniel Webb and Michael McGowan.
Ferryhill Community Hub outgunned Hetton Social Club 7-3 to leapfrog their visitors into third place, albeit only on goal difference.
Joel Gibson and Tyler Marquis hit hat-tricks,with Kieran Latcham also scoring in Hub’s final game, while Macauley Brannigan, Ben Roberts and Rob Fenwick replied.
Hetton Social will clinch third place with a final-day victory at Bearpark this weekend.
Fifth-top Durham Rangers only had the bare 11 players, but they still won well, 4-1 at Bearpark. Charlie Salicki, Chris Brown and Luke Muldown (2) notched.
Hetton New Inn had a stroll in the sun, walloping Chester Park Inn 7-1 away.
The hosts were reduced to nine men by red cards for Paul Logan and Grant Lawrence in the 20th minute and New Inn capitalised. Conner Bell netted for Park.
Quarrington Hill WMC won 7-2 at Durham Buffaloes Head in the battle of the bottom two, rising to thirdbottom in the process.
East Rainton suffered heartbreak with a 1-0 defeat to Premier side Newton Aycliffe Huntsman in the Castle Insurance Alan Smith Memorial Trophy final.
Corey Nicholson had a shot deflected wide for Huntsman before Rainton found their feet, causing chaos on the break, with Stuart Bleanch going close/
Joe Grant hammered home the only goal on 35 minutes, with a low shot after a mazy dribble into the box by Nicholson.
There were few clear-cut chances in a tight second half, but Rainton keeper Dean Caris made a tremendous save to deny Kieran Megran and then kept out a Mark Wood strike late on.
