Step back in time to the golden era of rock ‘n’ roll when Lipstick on your Collar comes to Billingham Forum on May 25. Following its West End debut at the Leicester Square Theatre, the show is set to raise the roof at the Forum, playing an array of classic hits from the golden era of music. DEAN STOCKDALE TRIO The Gala Theatre Lunchtime Concert Series continues in Durham this week. On Friday there will be a performanc­e by The Dean Stockdale Trio who return with Mick Shoulder on bass and Adam Sinclair on drums. The trio has been playing in venues across the north promoting their recent album Origin, featuring original compositio­ns and standards. The concert runs from 1pm until 2pm and tickets are priced at £5. FLEETWOOD MAC TRIBUTE Rumours of Fleetwood Mac bring their 40 Years of Rumours show back to Sage Gateshead on Saturday night. As part of the show the tribute act will be performing the legendary Rumours album notefor-note and in its entirety. Encompassi­ng nearly five decades of legendary music and channellin­g the spirit of Fleetwood Mac at their very best, Rumours of Fleetwood Mac offer an opportunit­y for fans to rediscover the hits. BIRDSONG, NEXT WEEK A stage adaptation of Sebastian Faulks’ bestsellin­g novel Birdsong is coming to Durham’s Gala theatre from May 21 to 26. The critically-acclaimed play tells a mesmerisin­g story of love and courage before and during the First World War – and arrives in Durham as part of its tour marking 100 years since the guns fell silent. The cast is headed by Tom Kay, playing the lead role of soldier Stephen Wraysford, following on from his recent performanc­e in Journey’s End on a battlefiel­d in Ypres in 2017. He will be joined by Madeleine Knight in the role of Isabelle Azaire, who together embark on a passionate and dangerous affair that turns both of their worlds upside down. AUSTEN’S WOMEN, MAY 23 A one-woman show featuring some of Jane Austen’s most memorable characters comes to Arts Centre Washington on Wednesday, May 23. Thirteen of Jane Austen’s heroines come to life in this bold revisiting of some of literature’s most celebrated works. Rebecca Vaughan becomes Emma Woodhouse, Lizzy Bennet, Mrs Norris, Miss Bates and nine other beautifull­y-observed women in critical moments from Austen’s major novels.
