Peel and Robson bring home a golden double for District Youth

-

Two District Youth ABC boxers are celebrating after winning gold medals at the England National School Boys’/Girls’ Championship finals in Grantham last weekend.

Julianne Peel took on Neve Lawson in the 44.5kg 2004 Category bout to kick things off.

Peel had to overcome a very defensive tactic from Lawson that wouldn’t allow her to express herself.

However, Peel kept her discipline and controlled the fight from the centre of the ring to claim the National title.

In the 43kg 2006 category bout, Youth’s Oliver Robson boxed in the minors and put on a show to beat beating O.Hendricks, of Gemini ABC.

Oliver was never in any real danger and boxed with precision, totally controlling the final to again claim another National title for the District Youth ABC.

District Youth ABC’s Mick Wilson said after the double title winning success: “Based in Washington, the two young dedicated boxers fully deserved their No1 position in England after all their hard work in the gym.

“They have been here with myself and the coaches since the club opened.

“I can’t thank the coaches and sponsors enough for all their hard work and support, thank you!”

The District boxers complete their season in the Hull Box Cup early next month.

District Youth ABC has been accepted by Metro Radio Cash for Kids Active Summer, where the funds will help towards a mini-bus that will ship boxers to events all over the country.
