Groups need volunteers

-

As chairman of a local community organisation I was interested to read the letter on May 30 regarding volunteering.

The letters brought the issues to the forefront on how reliant on volunteers many organisations are to survive.

We at Elcap in Easington Lane fully understand this.

We have come along way in the past three years from nearly closing to being a vibrant, busy place that is used more now than ever.

There is a wide range of activities for all age groups from the toddler groups to the senior citizen clubs and loads more in between.

It’s a great pleasure to be part of this.

There has been a lot of hard work done by everyone to get us into the position we are today and without our growing bank of volunteers this would not be the case.

The volunteers we have are from a varied background, a wide range of abilities and an even wider range of ages.

These and others like them are key to the survival of organisations like Elcap and others out there.

If you have a couple of hours to spare contact your nearest community group and join the growing number of volunteers.

Your help will be greatly received and you will get great satisfaction in being part of that community spirit again.
