STORY: Bottle or

breastfeeding? Woman’s choice must be respected, midwives told

Eileen Joyce: My daughterin-law had a breast feeding nurse, who came to her home to make sure she was comfortable breastfeeding also the midwife for all other things.

Carole Olds: My body went into shock after emergency

c-section. I tried feeding my son he was not getting any milk. I had to bottle feed. I believe it’s up to the individual. Nichola Mence: I wanted

to breastfeed. No help from midwives. No information given to me, no advertisements to encourage me. I was lucky to have a friend who pointed me in the direction of support groups. Mothers and volunteers run them in their spare time for free. I would not have managed without this. It’s free food for baby and support should definitely be funded for the poorest of people in this country. It can save up to £1,000 just over 1 year.

Kellie Preece: No midwife showed me how to breast

feed. I tried on my own and my son didnt take too it. So he was bottled feed.
