DAZZLER DEFTY GIVES SUNDERLAND A BOOST

ASHBROOKE UNDER-15S TOP THE SECOND DIVISION TABLE AFTER BEATING DURHAM CITY

Sunderland sit top in the Durham Cricket Board Junior League’s Under-15 Division Two after a 25-run triumph at Durham City.

Joe Defty hit six fours and two sixes in 50no, supported by Kyle Hutchinson (40no) and Shay Donoghue (25) in the Ashbrooke lads’ 148-4.

Tom Reynolds replied with an unbeaten 52 for City, but they fell short on 123-3, despite Henry Hopkins’ 27no.

Philadelph­ia posted 1054 to set up a 44-run win over Sacriston. Luke Robinson (51no) and Dunne (43) shone for Phili, with Harry Iveson snaffling 2-11.

James Hannon hit 30 not out in reply, but Sacriston struggled to 61-9 as Brett Walton took 2-3.

Ryhope were threewicke­t winners at Gateshead Fell, who made 83-8 batting first.

Harvey Wake (27) and Layton Meek (20) starred for Fell, with Ben Pallas bagging 3-17.

Savio Jacob (19), Johnathan Waterson (20), Spencer White (13) and Cole Levy (14no) took Ryhope to victory off the final ball.

Whitburn beat Castle Eden by 10 wickets.

In Division One, tabletoppe­rs Chester-le-Street defeated second-placed Hetton Lyons by 34 runs.

Robbie Dawson (51no) and Aaradhya Tiwari (53no) inspired Chester’s 132-2. Lyons struggled early on, but Ryan O’Connor (20) and Ethan Dixon (17) rallied them to finish on 98-9, as Sebastian Hughes-Pinan took 2-7.

Washington suffered a third straight defeat as Eppleton picked up their first win, by 11 runs.

Edward Brown had five boundaries in 50no to help Eppleton to 106-6, with Jye Richardson adding 12. Matthew Ward and Daniel Bone each struck twice.

Washington fell short on 95-9 in reply, led by Bone (36), Kieran Bennett (15) and Andrew Nelson (12).

Jack Naunton snaffled 4-19, with Brown taking 3-17.

In Division Three, Hylton went down by seven wickets at Boldon.

Bailey Long (15) and Josh Duff (13) top-scored in Hylton’s 62-8, as Ethan Elsworth, Adam Smith and Charles Siddle all struck twice.

Siddle (21) and Jack Pollock (16no) guided Boldon to victory in 8.5 overs. Alfie Dutton grabbed 2-19.

Dawdon made 108-5, but Seaham Park (109-2) won their derby by eight wickets in 18.2 overs.

Marsden restricted Felling to 53-3 before securing a five-wicket victory in the 12th over.

Chester-le-Street beat Crook in the U15 County Cup after Aaradhya Tiwari (50no) and Robbie Dawson (37) helped them to post 111-4. Crook went close, but three run-outs proved decisive as they fell just short on 109-9.
