Sunderland Echo

We deserve better ...

-

I really never wanted to see, let alone write, another letter regarding leaving the European Union, but the front page of the Echo on Thursday, June 28, Nissan, the main employer and largest car manufacturer in the country, has let the Government know it has put its investment plans on hold until there is more certainty over Brexit.

This comes a week after Airbus and BMW both expressed concerns over progress of Brexit talks.

The concerns for the thirty odd thousand of Nissan workers and the supply chain that is a massive part of Sunderland is obviously not a worry for this Government.

Theresa May is only concerned about hanging onto her job, that’s why she can’t show leadership and say we are not leaving until we get the right deal for this country.

Theresa May is frightened of her right wing colleagues, who just want the country to leave regardless of the consequences.

On a note of point these hard line Brexiteers, like Jacob Rees Mogg has moved his company to Ireland so it can still get the benefits of Europe, Nigel Lawson has applied for French residency so he can live there.

John Redwood has been advising his clients to disinvest in Britain and not forgetting Nigel Farage whose children have German passports so they can move freely around Europe.

These people can just swan off if it all goes wrong unlike the rest of us.

The people of this country deserve better than this pantomime of a Government.
