South Hylton secure snooker crown in stunning fashion

South Hylton A clinched the Danby Autos Sunderland Snooker League title after an impressive 5-0 win at home to The Victory.

A 30 break helped Adam Smith win the first frame before Norman Leslie won the second frame.

Gavin Dixon increased the lead before a 29 break helped Graham Rutland win the fourth frame.

In the pairs, a 32-break by Leslie, when paired with Rutland, helped win the frame, beating Ray James/Darren Dowell 96-25 to complete the whitewash and secure the crown with one game remaining.

The match between Boldon CA and South Hylton B was expected to be close and the singles alternated into a 2-2 situation before Boldon took the pairs for the overall 3-2 result which sees Boldon finish the season as runners-up.

Pennywell Comrades A stormed to a 5-0 success over their B team, thanks to Kevin Harrop, Joe Turner, Stuart Taylor, Dean Taylor and the pairing of Steve O’Wellen/Dean Taylor.

Biddick B eased to a 4-1 success over The Hetton Centre, thanks to Peter Mills, Tommy Rutter and John Temple, before the pairing of Mills/Temple beat Paul Stoves/Joe Nord 53-28 for the 4-1 win

Nord also got Hetton’s consolatio­n point.

Glendale also claimed a 4-1 win over Murton Officials.

Marc Smithson, John Danby, Thomas Gwyn and John Wiseman all won their single games, with Stephen Clementson/Eddie Williamson winning Murton a consolatio­n point in the pairs.

Norman Brown got Mill View off to the perfect start at home to Steels, before Howard Lax won the second frame.

Ray Charlton Junior pulled one back for Steels, with Jimmy Gales soon levelling the match.

In the pairs, John Spruce/ Steve Chandler beat Tommy Ayre/Vince Flynn 63-53 for a Mill View 3-2 win.

In the club battle between Seaham Conservati­ves A and B, it was the A team who came out on top with a narrow 3-2 victory.

Finally, Biddick A edged out Lumley to claim a 3-2 victory, with Steven Tate and Graham Smith getting Biddick A off to a positive start.

However, Brian Jeffreys and Roful Hoque levelled the match.

David Adamson/Smith won Biddick the match when winning the pairs frame against Sean Henderson/Brian Meuse.
