Club considers options after Ndong and Djilobodji fail to show

-

Sunderland are considering their options after Didier Ndong and Papy Djilobodji failed to report for pre-season training.

Black Cats boss Jack Ross confirmed last week that all players due back for the first day had reported for duty.

Ndong (pictured) and Djilobodji, however, were due to return yesterday after their loans at Watford and Dijon ended.

Both players are keen to leave the club this summer, with Sunderland equally eager to move them on. Both players have interest from other clubs but with no deal imminent, they remain contracted to the club and as such are expected to report.

The Black Cats are now likely to consider legal advice should the players continue to stay away.

They are two of a number of players heading for the exits as transfer business picks up on Wearside. The club are in talks over the potential departure of six players as Jack Ross continues his extensive squad overhaul.

Lamine Kone is one such player expected to depart. The Ivory Coast defender did report for training last week but has not gone on the pre-season training camp in Portugal after informing club management that he did not wish to play for the club.

He is continuing to train at the Academy of Light while talks over his future continue.

Wahbi Khazri and Bryan Oviedo are also absent from the club’s training camp but they have been given an extra two weeks to recover from World Cup duty after featuring for Tunisia and Costa Rica.

Both could have found new clubs before that point.

Jack Ross has taken a threadbare squad to Portugal, though new signings Dylan McGeouch and Reece James will join up with their new team-mates imminently.

Aiden McGeady has remained on Wearside but that is merely due to a minor injury picked up in training last week.

He could depart this summer should the club field a significant bid but in the interim he does have a first team future under Ross.
