New housing estate for vacant land site
A dozen new homes to be built as part of a project to create more family houses and bungalows will be adaptable for people who use wheelchairs.
More than 40 properties will be constructed in Tamar Close and Teign Close, in Peterlee, as part of a £54million County Durham Housing Group programme to create affordable homes.
The scheme will feature 29 three-bed family houses alongside 10 two and two three-bed bungalows.
The 12 bungalows adapted for wheelchair use will be available for affordable rent, with all 29 houses to be filled under the governmentbacked ‘Rent to Buy’ scheme.
The plan was given approval by Durham County Council’s Area Planning Committee on Tuesday, subject to completion of a Section 106 agreement, with construction expected to start early next year.
