Fyfe sparks friendly delight for Durham U19s

Durham Under-19s secured a six-wicket friendly triumph against Yorkshire at Seaton Carew.

The Tykes found life hard going against the Durham attack and were dismissed for 180 in 47 overs, led by Alec Drury (28) and Archie Scott (26).

Liam Burgess swooped to land 3-40, while Adam Ahmed took 2-17, Faizan Hussain 2-35 and Dan Legge 2-19. Will Angus also struck.

Durham put on 96 for the first wicket, thanks to Tom Hewison (56, with 11 fours, off 44 balls) and Cameron Fyfe (70no, with six fours and a six). Fyfe saw them over the line, backed by Nathan Hall (10), Jack McCarthy (14) and Ben Seabrook (12no). Victory came in 32.2 overs.

Durham Under-14s earned two-wicket friendly win over the Cleveland Schools Cricket Associatio­n at Philadelph­ia.

Ewan Jenkins grabbed 3-30 for Durham, with Jake Dickinson taking 2-33. Luke Robinson, Luke Husband, Theo Truss and Ben Wright also struck.

Jake Pratt was the star of the show in Durham’s reply, blasting 13 fours and a six in 91 off 106 balls.

Tom Bolam added 23, while Tom Ward made 18, Dickinson 17, Husband 17no, Wright 16, Robbie Dawson 16 and Daniel Gray 15.

Yash Vagadia bagged 3-40.

Durham Under-12s lost their friendly against Cumbria by 12 runs at Cockermout­h.

The hosts made 161 all out in 34.2 overs, led by Sam Bates (25), with Sebastian Hughes-Pinan (3-22) and Henry Hopkins (3-22) the stars in Durham’s attack.

Sam Goodwin, Johnny Burgess and Patrick Nicholson also took wickets.

Durham lost four of their top six very cheaply, with three ducks, but Hughes-Pinan (44), Joseph Davis (20) and Mason Bell (25) led the fightback, only for the visitors to be dismissed for 149 in the 39th over.

Callum High was the key bowler for Cumbria, taking 4-27 in his eight overs.
