Even Captain Hook is in city
The good ship pantomime sailed into Sunderland for a sneak preview of this year’s Empire spectacular.
To celebrate the launch of Peter Pan, which will fly into the Empire this Christmas, the dastardly Captain Hook, played by I’m a Celebrity’s and Hollyoaks’ Jamie Lomas, and heroic Peter Pan, played by West End actor Josh Andrews, enjoyed an epic battle aboard one of the mighty Tall Ships.
The fairytale foes went head to head on the DeGallant, a regular participant in the races, to provide a teaser of the panto, which runs from December 14 to January 6.
Martin Dodd, producer at UK Productions, said: “We are delighted to be flying back into the fabulous Sunderland Empire with everybody’s favourite story Peter Pan.
“With pirates, indians, mermaids, fairies, amazing special effects, laughs a plenty and a fantastic star studded cast don’t miss the boat for what will be our biggest pantomime so far.”
Also making an appearance was CBBC’s Richard McCourt, aka Dick from Dick and Dom, who will be going solo as Hook’s right-hand man Mr Smee, as well as Melanie Walters from BBC’s BAFTA winning series Gavin and Stacey as Mrs Darling.
