On Saturday, June 30, Sunderland Lions did a litter pick at Seaburn. They managed to pick up nine full bags of litter in an hour. Many members of the public were very appreciati­ve and commented on the good job being done. St Nicholas Church held its annual Summer Fair on Saturday, June 30. It was well attended and everyone enjoyed buying from the many stalls and refreshmen­ts. The event raised £830, which goes towards church funds. St Gabriel’s Ladies’ Fellowship meet on Wednesday,July 25, at 1.30pm. Outlook, a relaxed midweek service, will take place at St Gabriel’s Church on Monday, July 23, at 2pm. It starts with a short service, followed by refreshmen­ts and a chat. Ewesley Road Ladies’ Fellowship will meet tomorrow at 7.30pm. Ann Scott will be guest speaker and the title of her talk is ‘Signs’. Sunderland Floral Art Club will today Tuesday at 2pm in St Cecilia’s Church hall, Ryhope Road. Kath Gibson will be guest demonstrat­or and the title of her demonstrat­ion is Myths and Legends. Have you visited Patchwork Daisy shop, located just outside The Bridges, opposite Cafe Nero. The shop has been created for people to showcase their crafts. Tables are available from Monday to Friday at a cost of £10, and Friday to Sunday for £15. There is also shelf space to rent. Deptford and Millfield Community Associatio­n will hold a Summer Fair and Cabaret on Saturday, August 4, and are asking people to donate the following: good quality clothing, toys, games. cds, sweets, cakes, bingo prizes, bottles for bottle stall, bric-a-brac. The fete is takes place from noon to 3pm. The centre relies on public support to keep it open. Ring 0794488411­4 to make arrangemen­ts to drop items off. The Cabaret Night begins at 7pm and acts include Katy Red, Dave Murray (Mr Dean Martin), Absolute Cabaret, singing and dance group. St Mark’s Nursing Home will hold a Summer Fair on Saturday at 1.30pm. All the fun of the fair, with raffle, bric-a-brac, games, tombola, cake stall, food, refreshmen­ts. All proceeds from this event go to the Residents Fund. Sunderland Cardiac Support Group holds exercise classes for you and your partner/carer in Bede Tower, Burdon Road. Sessions take place Monday, Wednesday and Thursday from 10am to 11am and 11.15am to 12.15pm and are done in a relaxed atmosphere and at your own pace. On Saturday, August 11, from 10.30am to noon, St Gabriel’s Church will hold a Coffee Morning in aid of Church funds.Refreshmen­ts £1.20. On the last Sunday of the month Pallion Gospel Hall holds a Family Service at 4pm followed by tea. Tea and bingo will take place at St Mary Magdalene’s Parish Centre, Wilson Street, on Saturday, August 4, at 1.30pm. Sunderland Minster Vintage and Craft Fayre takes place on Saturday, August 4, from 10am to 3pm. Call in and browse the variety of stalls selling, jewellery, garden items, hand crafted greetings cards, handbags, wood items, knitted items and much more. Refreshmen­ts available with some homemade cakes. Entry is 50p for adults, children free. A Forties Show will be held in The Holy Rosary Parish Centre on Friday at 7pm. Janie St John will entertain. Feel free to dress 40s style. There will be a raffle, bingo and sale of knitted goods. Tickets are £5, children free, including pie and peas. All proceeds are for the local MS Society. Sunderland Ladies’ Probus Club will meet in St John’s Church, Ashbrooke, on Thursday, July 26, when Professor John Derry will be guest speaker. The title of his talk is The Man Who Lost Three Kingdoms. Coffee is served at 10.00a.m and the meeting begins at 10.30a.m. Animal Krackers will hold an open day at Ferry Farm, South Hylton, on Saturday, from 10am to 2pm.
