Enjoying the wonder of Wembley on big match day

-

Ahead of this year’s World Cup, 35 pupils visited Wembley Stadium to see England play Nigeria in a friendly game.

The atmosphere was said to be amazing!

The Nigerian fans were very energetic and enthusiastic about football.

When Alex Iwobi scored they were banging their drums as hard as possible.

And when Gary Cahill and Harry Kane scored the England fans were playing trombones and kazoos.

Benjamin Day (14) said that his favourite part of the trip was, in his words, “Just the atmosphere really!

“The atmosphere was amazing, the stadium was massive and we enjoyed the passion of the fans from both sides coming together.

“It was one of the best experiences I have ever had and I will always remember it.

“It was awesome when the Mexican wave went around the stadium.

“Wembley was the greatest experience of my life and I will never forget it.”

Johnathon Douglass (14) said that he enjoyed: “The people and how they got along.

“The long coach journey was worth it and all together the trip was a great experience.

“The capacity of the stadium was colossal.

“It is twice the size of the Stadium of Light and the rows of seats were much more spread out.

“This was a great experience for everyone involved in an experience of a lifetime.”
