Grateful to ‘Samaritans’

-

On Friday, July 6, at about 3.45pm my mother got off the bus on Chichester Road and started to walk down the bank.

Unfortunately, she caught her foot on the uneven paving stones and tripped breaking her nose and badly bruising her face, hands and chest.

Thankfully nothing else was broken.

Two ladies were passing in their car and stopped to help my mother, who had blood streaming down her face.

My mum refused their offer of calling an ambulance and they helped her home.

I arrived home shortly after she had entered the house and by this time the two ladies had left.

My mum was very dazed (she is 89 years old) and couldn’t remember how she had hurt herself other than she remembered tripping and falling.

After a visit to the hospital where she received stitches to her broken nose and to her chin we arrived home at about 11pm.

We assumed mum had tripped over the door step coming into the house however on Saturday morning a lady arrived at our door to see how my mother was and explained that she and her friend had seen her fall and brought her home.

My mum could not remember this at all and still cannot recall the help of these ladies.

Unfortunately, I failed to take the lady’s name as I was quite shocked when she explained what had happened.

Could I through your paper, please express my family’s deepest thanks to these two Samaritans who helped my mum.

We are so grateful that you helped her and my mum sends her profound thanks to you both for your help.

My mum is recovering and thankfully the bruising and swelling are going down.

Thank you again for your help. J Wake
