Liverpool make £62m move for Alisson

-

Liverpool have made a £62million bid for Roma goalkeeper Alisson, according to reports.

But it is understood that the Italian Serie A outfit want £66.5m. Either figure would be a world record transfer fee for a goalkeeper.

Alisson, 25, has been with Roma since joining from Brazilian side Internacional in 2016 and made 37 Serie A appearances last season.

He played in all five of Brazil’s games at this summer’s World Cup, keeping three clean sheets.

Liverpool goalkeeper Loris Karius was back in the spotlight last week after a 3-2 friendly win against Tranmere at Prenton Park saw him spill a free-kick which allowed the hosts to score.

Karius was at fault for two of Real Madrid’s three goals when they beat Liverpool 3-1 in May’s Champions League final, after which it was revealed the 25-yearold German was suffering from concussion. Meanwhile, highly-rated 18-year-old Liverpool forward Rhian Brewster has signed his first professional contract at Anfield, keeping him with the Reds until 2023. Brewster, who had been linked with Borussia Monchengladbach, said: “It feels great. I’ve wanted to do this for a very long time now and I think it’s the right moment for me and my family.

“I can’t wait to get started and get back fit. That’s my aim (to play for the first team) to either be alongside Bobby (Firmino) or in front of him. Of course it’s going to be hard because he’s a great player and a great person. But I hope in the next two or three years I can be the No 9 for Liverpool. ”
