Tonight is the night Sunderland singing sensation Jessie Dale discovers if she is through to the next stage of The Voice Kids.

The 13-year-old, from Castletown, is one of 36 youngsters in the running to win the ITV show after McFly lead vocalist and guitarist Danny Jones picked her to be part of his team in the blind auditions.

Her version of Sigrid’s Don’t Kill My Vibe proved a hit as Danny turned round his chair to pick her, while fellow judges Pixie Lott and Will.i.am were on their feet and dancing within moments.

Black Eyed Peas frontman Will.i.am placed red hearts on his eyes to make him look like an emoji, with the still from the show later tweeted to his 13million followers – Jessie has the hearts as a keepsake.

Tonight, she will pair up with two other team members to sing a track in the battle round, with one from each trio to remain in the competition.

From there, the winning four acts per judge join the semi-final, with two each in the grand final. Her debut on Tuesday was watched by the Castle View Academy student at the Travelling Man, in Boldon, with her family, with guests given a performance ahead of the screening.

Jessie and her loved ones have been sworn to secrecy about the outcome of the show.

Mum Sandra, 53, who works on the reception of Sunderland Foot Clinic, in Southwick Road, said: “We were really excited to watch the audition show and really excited that she’s in Team Danny.

“She loved meeting everyone, they were so friendly and put us at ease.

“It was just really nervewracking for us and for the kids, and we were so proud of Jessie that she got through to the next stage.

“But it was also heartbreaking for the others who auditioned alongside Jessica that didn’t get through, because they’d been through exactly the same process as her and they were all so good. “They’re all little stars. “She was looking forward to going to school after she’d been on the television and she’s had so many messages of support from around the North East.”

Jessie is also supported by dad Kevin, 52, who runs french polishing business Designer Wood Finishes, brother Jae, 18, an apprentice, sister Natalie Basilisco, 32, a tax accountant, and her husband Emilo, also 32, who is a teacher at Jessie’s school.

Tonight’s 90-minute show starts at 8pm.
