Comedian Jason Manford is hoping to put people of Sunderland in a good mood.

The entertainer is launching one of his comedy clubs in the city.

Based in the Bonded Warehouse, the club is set to bring some of the brightest new stars in comedy to the city to give the people of Sunderland something to smile about.

Jason was in Sunderland at the weekend, performing at the Sunderland Empire, as part of his Muddle Class tour.

During his trip to the city he took time out to visit the Bonded Warehouse at Fish Quay to see where their acts will be performing and making people laugh.

He said the space is perfect as a venue for one of his clubs.

The comedian said: “I like being in Sunderland. I’ve done many tours here and always have a great time.”

He set up his comedy club four years ago so good comedians could have a great venue to work in, where they would be treated well.

And, because he knows all of the acts personally, he says audiences can be certain of a good time.

He said: “People have really busy lives and they can’t risk wasting a night out that might not be any good.

“When they come to the comedy clubs they know they are going to have a great time.”

He said the line-ups at the shows are always diverse, so people get a good mix of comedy, and the performers are picked to suit the type of audience it is.

Jason said: “There’s nothing like live, there’s just something special about watching a live comedy show. You never know what is going to happen.”

Richard Forster, who manages the Bonded Warehouse, said he is delighted that Manford’s Comedy Club has chosen the venue for this opportunity.

He said they recently began doing a Bingo Revolution night and the host was Matt Reed, one of the comedians on the Manford’s Comedy Club books.

He said: “Matt said our space would be ideal for what the comedy club does and it just fell into place. It is a great fit for what we are doing here.”

The first Manford’s Comedy Club night at The Bonded Warehouse will be held on Friday, September 7, and the line up will be Matt Reed, Callum Oakley, Adam Rowe and Carl Hutchinson.

Tickets, costing £13 each, are available from www.tickettext.co.uk/manfordscomedyclub/manfords-comedy-clubsunderland-07092018.
